Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to identify vision defects, abnormalities, injuries, and eye diseases
  • Operate diagnostic equipment such as slit-lamp biomicroscope, fundus camera, OCT, non-contact tonometer, and visual field analyser
  • Interpret and explain examination results clearly to patients, offering appropriate advice and reassurance
  • Recommend suitable optical aids based on clinical findings and patient needs
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists when medical intervention is required
  • Instruct patients on proper handling and care of contact lenses, especially first-time users
  • Manage inventory of contact lenses, trial lenses, and related solutions
  • Perform fitting, adjustment, and troubleshooting of spectacles and ophthalmic lenses
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including eye health history and purchase data
  • Ensure all diagnostic equipment is properly maintained and operational
  • Provide guidance and training to junior optometrists and opticians
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Pre-registered or fully registered Optometrist
  • Experience in a retail environment is an added advantage
  • Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to operate optometric diagnostic equipment confidently
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
